Frequently Asked Questions
Baby Oral Care
What age are your baby toothbrushes suitable for?
Our baby toothbrushes are designed for children aged 0–24 months. The Baby's First Toothbrush Kit (Step by Step) guides you through three stages: 3–6 months (finger brush for gentle gum massage), 6–12 months (silicone brush for first teeth), and 12–24 months (toddler toothbrush for independent brushing). All products are BPA-free and safety tested.
Are Sanitral baby products BPA-free and safe?
Yes. Every Sanitral baby product — finger toothbrushes, banana teethers, and silicone brushes — is made from 100% BPA-free, food-grade silicone. They undergo rigorous third-party laboratory testing and are designed in consultation with a paediatric dentist. They comply with UK and EU toy safety standards.
How do I sterilise the silicone finger toothbrush?
Rinse with clean water after every use. Sterilise by placing in boiling water for 3–5 minutes. We recommend replacing the finger toothbrush every 4 weeks, with sterilisation between each use to maintain hygiene.
Can the banana teether go in the fridge?
Yes — chilling it in the fridge helps soothe inflamed gums during teething. Do not place it in the freezer: extreme cold can damage the silicone and may be too harsh on your baby's sensitive gums.
How often should I replace my baby's toothbrush?
Dentists recommend replacing toothbrushes every 3 months. Silicone finger toothbrushes should be replaced every 4 weeks, with sterilisation in between.
What is the difference between the Banana Teether Kit and the Baby's First Toothbrush Kit?
The Banana Teether with Storage Case is a standalone product designed primarily for gum soothing and early oral habituation. The Baby's First Toothbrush Kit is a complete 3-stage system (finger brush + silicone brush + toddler brush) that takes your child from birth through to age 2 — it includes a banana teether in the full kit version.
Interdental Brushes
What size interdental brush do I need?
Choose the smallest size that passes through the gap comfortably without forcing. Our size guide:
- 0.4mm — Pink: Very tight gaps; ideal if you are new to interdental brushes
- 0.45mm — Yellow: Tight to moderate gaps
- 0.5mm — Orange: Moderate gaps
- 0.6mm — Blue: Standard gap width; most commonly used size
- 0.7mm — Yellow: Wider gaps
- 1.2mm — Orange: Large gaps, bridges, implants
If you are unsure, your dentist can recommend the right size at your next check-up.
Can I use interdental brushes with braces, implants, or bridges?
Yes. The angled neck and long ergonomic handle are specifically designed to navigate around orthodontic braces, dental implants, crowns, and bridges. The angle makes it much easier to reach the back teeth without straining your wrist.
How many times can I reuse one interdental brush?
Each brush can be reused several times. Rinse thoroughly under running water after every use. Replace the brush when the bristles show wear, start to bend, or the inner wire becomes exposed. Each Sanitral pack contains 5 brushes.
Are interdental brushes better than floss?
Many dental professionals consider interdental brushes more effective than traditional string floss for removing plaque in moderate to wider gaps. For very tight contacts where a brush cannot fit, dental floss picks are the better choice. Ideally, incorporate both into your daily routine for complete interproximal cleaning.
Dental Floss Picks
What makes Sanitral floss picks different?
Our picks feature a 2-in-1 design: strong, non-shred floss on one end and a pointed toothpick on the other. The ergonomic handle provides a firm grip even when wet. The floss is pre-tensioned and designed not to fray or snap mid-use — common problems with cheaper alternatives.
Which pack size should I choose?
- 50 Pcs: Perfect for personal daily use or travel
- 100 Pcs (Pack of 2): Great value for individuals or couples
- 200 Pcs (Pack of 4): Best value — ideal for families or stocking up
Are floss picks suitable for children?
Floss picks can be used by children aged 6 and over with adult supervision. For younger children, we recommend our interdental brushes or baby toothbrushes rather than floss picks.
How often should I floss?
Dentists recommend flossing at least once a day, ideally before bedtime to remove plaque and food debris that brushing alone cannot reach. Consistent daily flossing significantly reduces the risk of gum disease, cavities between teeth, and bad breath.
Travel Toothbrushes
How does the travel toothbrush work?
The bristle head folds neatly into the hollow handle section, completely enclosing and protecting the bristles from germs, bacteria, and contamination. This compact folding design makes the toothbrush ideal for hand luggage, gym bags, and children's travel kits.
Are they permitted in carry-on luggage?
Yes. The folding toothbrushes are solid plastic with no liquid or gel components and are fully permitted in carry-on luggage under UK, EU, and international airline regulations.
Are the bristles soft or medium?
The bristles are made from durable nylon, suitable for everyday use. If you require specifically labelled soft or ultra-soft bristles for sensitive gums, please contact us before ordering and we will advise on the best option.
Toothpaste Tube Squeezers
What types of tube does the squeezer fit?
The squeezer (9 × 3.5 cm) works with most standard plastic and metal tubes including toothpaste, hand cream, hair colour, oil paint, cosmetics, cleaning foam, craft glue, tomato paste, and more. The reusable clip-roll design works regardless of tube material.
How much product can I save?
Using the squeezer consistently can help you recover up to 30% more product that would otherwise remain stuck at the bottom and sides of the tube. The pack of 4 provides one for each bathroom and travel bag.
